Christine Spinder's textile art explores ritual, the elements, botany, anatomy, birth and death, joy, shadow, archetype, collective, frequency, physics, and our relationship with land, ancient symbols, and ancestry. Each element in her art - from the prismatic botanical dyes to the linen and merino wool - is handmade and organic, spotlighting what's possible with the vibrancy and clarity of natural materiality. With a lifetime researching story, somatics, dance, meditation, ritual, ecology, neurodiversity and our senses, and an MA in Jungian Psychology, Christine's art invites viewers to waken their mythic, anatomical, collective intelligences. Self-taught and guided by her autistic synesthesia, Christine's art explores extrasensory worlds that make meaning of change, resilience, and creativity. From spirals and geometries, mythic beings, botany and mountain ranges, water ways and moon phases, cellular evolution and shadow play, the symbols carry global meanings. As a former foster child, Christine began exploring the symbol patterns after a lifetime of dreaming them, refound in her Slavic culture of origin. "I feel something waking inside me," viewers say. "It feels really good." Works are held in private collections in Canada, USA, and Mexico.
